Gabris

So the nice thing about living in the area that I do is the huge extent to which there are hiking and nordic trails. Yesterday we actually walked one of them to the top of the hill that we live on (called Gabris or maybe Gabris is the town we actually end up in at the end, I'm not quite sure), and it was actually much, much longer than I expected and quite a hike. It took about an hour to get up there. The weather actually wasn't that nice and it was snowing most of the time, but the sun did come out long enough for me to take a few photos. Unfortunately there were too many clouds to really get a nice view of the mountains. I think when spring rolls around I may wander onto these trails a bit more often as they are quite nice and pretty and very peaceful. Today we walked on another one, that actually is very flat and just leads to the next town, but it is nice to know that there are a variety of landscapes you can walk and choose whichever one you feel like doing the most. It's quite interesting because the whole region is filled with these trails and you can spend the whole day walking along going town to town and across the tops of the hills with restaurants every hour or so and it really is quite neat.

About halfway up

At the top, but not the end of the trail

Hard to see in the photo but the other side is actually a nice view of Austria

Apfelsaft, apparantly some kind of specialty
