Crummy Weather
The weather this week has been thoroughly crummy. Rainy, foggy, and a bit cold. I'm looking at the weather and it says it's only 52 degrees right now. Blah. Anyway, the week wasn't too terribly exciting (obviously with the weather like it is) though I did get to watch an extremely exciting episode of Lost. On Monday Ryan and I went and bought a card for mom to send for Mother's Day. I didn't find any actual Mother's Day cards (mostly because the shop that I probably would have found them at was closed), so we picked a blank card and Ryan liked the one with the Marienkaefer (ladybug) so we went with that. Suprisingly she already got it (it only took 4 days). Yesterday I went and played volleyball again and afterwards we went to this nice little restaurant in Teufen where my neighbor Monika recommended this cheese bread, and it was insanely good. It essentially tasted like a piece of bread smothered in fondue cheese. From what I was told, the cook dips it in white wine and then puts Appenzeller cheese and some herbs and whatnot, and bakes it in the oven. Today Andrea is preparing several sweets for Mother's Day tomorrow, and we're all also gearing up for Ryan's birthday next weekend. He's having a little party and Andrea is planing on making a zebra cake. I've already ordered some books for him off of Amazon Germany and he will be receiving The Cat in the Hat, Oh the Places You'll Go and a german book Das Zebra ist Das Zebra. So we'll see how he likes them. And then the next weekend is a public religious holiday that's supposed to be celebrating the ascension of Christ into heaven, so we'll be spending about 4 days in Tessin, the Italian part of Switzerland that's supposed to be really nice. We're going "camping" at a campground near a nice lake. I say "camping" because we're staying in a mobile home, and there's actually a lot of accomadations there, but it should be nice all the same. This evening Andrea and Urs are going out, so I'll be babysitting, and I think we'll do some sort of craft. I had thought about making cookies, but since Andrea has been making cake and cookies, that seems a bit redundant. I think maybe a paper flower bouquet for Andrea tomorrow.
