Day 6: Captain's BBQ

We had to get up earlier than usual and head off to the dock for the captain's bbq. We boarded a fishing boat with a few other tourists and headed out. First we stopped at the location of one of the nets to see what had been caught. Among a couple of small fish there was a scorpion fish, octopus, and another one that was classified as Grade A (or in other words 60 euros/kg).

Then we sailed off to a small islet called Samipouli with very shallow and clear waters. There we had some time to swim (though I didn't).

Then we were off again and stopped at a pebble beach where they cooked our lunch on the grill. We relaced for a short while until it was ready. The food was very nice consisting of a  nice large pork steak, potato salad, greek salad, tsatsiki, and bread. It all tasted wonderful. The captain also gave us samples of the fish that was caught (though not the octopus because it would have been tough and it wasn't dried out enough). Then we were served orange slices and coffee, and the captain and his broghter did a greek dance for us. Then they showed us a simple greek dance and we joined in, after which we had a glass of Ouzo (Yamas! as they say). To me it tasted a bit like licorice. We then had a couple of hours to relax and enjoy the beach before we boarded the boat and headed back again. It was a nice excursion and Ryan enjoyed the boat and playing on the beach. I was also smart to take some dramamine so I wasn't sea sick (and I'm sure I would have been).
